Junior Achievement Americas presents its training and employability program She is Digital, through which thousands of women in Latin America have already had the opportunity to develop technical skills, life and work competencies, and receive support in entering the workforce.

We are proud to be among the 25 organizations selected for the shortlist for this year’sGlobal EdTech Prize, in the Non-Profits category. The Top 10 finalists will be announced in September, and the winners will be announced at the World Schools Summit in London in January 2027.

Junior Achievement Americas presents the training and employability program She is Digital, through which thousands of women in Latin America have already had the opportunity to develop technical and social-emotional skills, receive mentoring, and gain practical support to help them enter the workforce in the technology sector.

A new call for applications for the program is now open in Brazil, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

The results: 954 women received scholarships, 545 international certifications were awarded, and more than 134 new jobs were created—six out of every ten in technology or digital roles.

Katherine Cárdenas: From training to professional experience in web development

Back-End Developer at Code Castle

Thanks to the “ She is Digital ” program and Junior Achievement El Salvador, Katherine strengthened her programming skills, learned Java and the Spring Framework, and honed her use of best practices in web development. These skills opened the door to a paid internship at Code Castle, where she applied her skills and gained professional experience to further her growth.

Valeria García: Believe in yourself to make your way in technology

Valeria García, a graduate of She is Digital in Honduras, discovered that the first step toward transforming her professional future was daring to believe in herself. With that conviction, she decided to forge a path for herself in the tech sector—a field where gender gaps still persist, but where there are also great opportunities.

After completing the program, Valeria was selected from dozens of applicants to do an internship at a financial institution, marking the beginning of her work experience in technology and consolidating an achievement that today drives her professional growth.

“She is Digital changed my life, opened up opportunities for me, helped me believe in myself, and now I want to be one of the mentors at She is Digital,” says Valeria.

María José and her impact on technology: Steadily moving toward the future

Mentor at Rocket Girls

From Costa Rica, María José Conejo Leiva found in She is Digital a community that came into her life at just the right moment. With a background in cybersecurity and as a front-end developer, she discovered a space filled with inspiring women who showed her that she wasn’t alone and that asking for help is an act of courage and personal growth.

Thanks to the support of She is Digital, María José was selected as a Junior Front-End Developer at Accenture. In addition, her career path and learning experience led her to become a speaker at Google DevFest, which underscores her commitment and professionalism.

Today, María José shares her knowledge as a mentor at Rocket Girls, inspiring new generations to join the technological world with confidence and solid skills.
